everyday tips and thoughts... personal finance, healthy living, and money saving tips for everyday life, with a few thoughts thrown in too! home about me contact me! health & fitness home & garden life misc tips parenting personal finance my blog has been through the wringer (tip: always back up your files!) october 26, 2015 · 1 comment in blogging , commentary i don’t know if anyone will even be reading this since it has been so long since i have written. my poor blog has been through a lot. it was tended to so nicely for quite awhile. i met so many great people in the blogging community, and i miss my blogging friends. then life got busy, we started our own business, and my blog was neglected. not only was it neglected, but it was hacked and then deleted. the sad thing was, it took me quite awhile to even realize it was gone. i lost everything. i called my hosting company. i begged for help, but all was lost. then i decided to try ‘one more time’ and talked to a supervisor to see if there was any way to get my content back. we (inmotion hosting and myself) then remembered i had been hacked previously and a old backup still existed on my old computer. it took a lot of effort, but i was able to get a lot of my content back. i was so relieved. even though i had not written in so long, i wanted my articles back. i wanted the comments back. i wanted my blog back. so here i am, back with my blog. i decided something in the process though. when i do write, it will not be because i have to, but because i want to. whereas my main goal with writing has always been and will continue to be to help others, i think occasionally i will also be writing to help myself. sometimes i just want to say something, even if nobody learns anything from it or even understands it. i just want to write, and i am so glad i was able to restore a lot of my blog. i have no idea if any of my blogging friends (or any friends) will read this or not, but if you do, hello! finally, my tip for you is this: always, always, always make sure you have a backup of your files. i know that creating backups can be a pain. however, there are automated methods out there to back up many files, and you can also just create an electronic reminder if you don’t have an automated method. if you are not tech savvy and do not know how to create back up files, find someone that does, or go online to learn. this same tip applies to your smartphones and other devices. especially since many people use their phones as a camera- make sure you do frequent backups in the event you lose your phone or it flies out of your pocket and lands somewhere you either can’t or choose not to retrieve it. oh, and by the way, my site is still having some issues, especially with commenting. so if you have an exciting comment, please be patient as i get that functionality restored. { 1 comment } perspectives while walking – goal setting july 1, 2013 the evening started with a walk. the night was perfect. even though it was almost the 4th of july, the weather made it seem more like halloween. it was raining lightly, and the breeze was blowing softly. it was just what i needed. what made this walk so wonderful?
